WhatsApp has been around for quite some time now, at least, over ten years and it’s one of the widely used messaging apps with constant updates. The latest update of WhatsApp can allow you to set your chat messages to disappear automatically after some few days.

Do you want to start using the feature now? Follow the steps below to set up your WhatsApp messages to disappear automatically after a predefined time.

How to set WhatsApp disappearing message feature in a chat

  • Tap the username (or user icon) above the in-chat screen to open the other person’s profile.
  • Under the user profile, tap “Disappearing message“
  • (Tap continue under the pop-up message that appears if it’s your first time)
  • Select “On“.

For now, it should be noted that WhatsApp’s Disappearing Messages feature will only work to delete all the messages seven days after they are sent. This is a default setting implemented by the developer.

Also, before messages will be deleted after the default seven days period, users can still copy or take a screenshot of the message(s) for future reference. This, accordingly, should guide users to be cautious about using the disappearing message feature.

This new message disappearing feature will work with media files as well but if auto-download is enabled then media files will be saved to the gallery even if the corresponding message is deleted from the WhatsApp chat.

The Facebook-owned app started rolling out the disappearing message to beta users some few months and after successful implementation, the feature has now been rolled out to all users across all platforms. What do you think of this? Let’s see your reaction and comments below.
